British Youth Opera to stage The Little Green Swallow
Stage Works 18 June, 2014
Following the success of their production of Flight in 2008, British Youth Opera are returning to Jonathan Dove’s music for a new production of The Little Green Swallow. Written in 1994, The Little Green Swallow is an adaptation of a theatrical fable by Carlo Gozzi (1720-1856), weaving commedia dell’arte into a magical fairy-tale world of singing apples, talking statues and dangerous quests. BYO’s performances of The Little Green Swallow take place on 8, 11 and 13 September 2014 at London’s Peacock Theatre.
New production of The Hackney Chronicles
Stage Works 16 June, 2014
Hackney New School will be staging two performances of Jonathan Dove’s The Hackney Chronicles on 18 July 2014 at the Rose Lipman Theatre, Hackney. Working closely with Hackney Music Development Trust, pupils from Hackney New School will oversee the entire production, from the performances, to stage-management, design and marketing. The Hackney Chronicles explores four different periods in Hackney’s history and is designed to offer a multi-disciplinary approach to covering parts of the primary school curriculum. Further details about the project can be found on the Hackney Music Development Trust website.
