Can one person make a difference?
Horrified by the climate crisis, teenager Lola decides that she must fight for the future. This new community opera by Jonathan Dove and April De Angelis looks at the state of the world and the climate emergency through the eyes of the young, the eyes of those who it will affect the most. A mother, a daughter and a time of turmoil, we discover how the bonds of family love survive when the planet faces a climate disaster. Directed by Sinead O'Neill, Uprising premieres on 28 February 2025, with further performances on 1 & 2 March. Limited tickets are available via the Glyndebourne website. The opera features a cast of professionals and the Glyndebourne Sinfonia conducted by Andrew Gourlay alongside Glyndebourne Youth Opera, a community chorus and young instrumentalists from Brighton & East Sussex Youth Orchestra and Brighton & Hove Percussion Ensemble. The Royal Scottish National Orchestra will then stage the Scottish premiere in Edinburgh and Glasgow on 28 and 29 March 2025. Comments are closed.
