Seven Angels (2010)
Opera in Seven Scenes | 30 minutes
Libretto by Alasdair Middleton For soprano, countertenor and harp (or piano and harpsichord) OverviewPiero Della Francesca’s life is explored in this one act chamber opera. A consummate arithmetician, geometrician, and perspectivist, the blindness which came upon him in his old age prevented him from displaying the results of his labours. The narrative is based around Piero’s life, exploring his creative struggle through a series of encounters with seven Angels.
First performed by Elizabeth Cragg, James Laing and Hugh Webb (Hp) at the 20th Century Theatre, London, on 17 January 2010
