Opera in One Act | 70 minutes
Libretto by Nick Dear based on the book by Gordon Honeycombe S.2T.Bar.B Soli - Actor 1(Picc).1.1(B-cl).0 - 1.0.0.0 - Hp - Pf(Cel) - Perc - Str(1.0.0.1.1) OverviewSiren Song is a bizarre, true story. A young sailor on HMS Ark Royal exchanges letters with a beautiful and successful model. Over time a romantic and passionate relationship develops, but a meeting proves increasingly difficult to arrange...
Diana, the girl Davey Palmer never met, lured the young sailor to his doom (hence the opera's title) because he fell in love with the girl his imagination had conjured up. His imaginary creation was so powerful that even after a police investigation had revealed the truth, he still saw Diana in his mind’s eye, just as he had always pictured her, on her yacht with her hair blowing in the breeze. First performance on 14th July 1994 at the Almeida Theatre, London
